Attendance Overview

Summary Statistics

The banner shows the Attendance Rate as a percentage, plus the current day streak (days in a row your child was present or late rather than absent).

Underneath are four counters:

  • Present - Days attended
  • Absent - Days missed
  • Late - Days arrived late
  • Excused - Approved absences

Viewing Records

Recent Attendance

Below the counters, Recent Attendance lists each recorded day:

  • The full date
  • The status badge — Present, Absent, Late or Excused
  • "Reason:" and the note, when the school recorded one

If nothing has been marked yet, it reads "No attendance records yet."

Attendance Patterns

Look for patterns:

  • Frequent absences on certain days
  • Consistent lateness
  • Improving or declining attendance
  • Seasonal patterns

Attendance Impact

Understand how attendance affects:

  • Academic performance
  • Exam eligibility
  • School standing
  • Social development

WARNING

Most schools require minimum attendance (75-80%). Low attendance can affect grades and progression.

Attendance Alerts

Turn Attendance Alerts on in Settings to get notified about attendance issues. Alerts arrive on the Notifications page — see Notifications.

Excused Absences

Legitimate Absences

Some absences may be excused:

  • Medical appointments
  • Family emergencies
  • Religious observances
  • School-approved activities

Documenting Absences

To excuse an absence:

  1. Contact the school
  2. Provide documentation (doctor's note, etc.)
  3. School marks it as excused

Only the school can change an attendance record — the Parents App is read-only for attendance.

Communicating with School

Reporting Absences

Notify the school when your child will be absent:

  1. Contact the school in advance when possible
  2. Provide the reason and expected duration
  3. Submit documentation if required

Discussing Concerns

If attendance is an issue:

  1. Message your child's teacher
  2. Request a meeting
  3. Work on an improvement plan
  4. Monitor progress

Multiple Children

When you have multiple children:

  • Attendance is shown for the selected child
  • Switch child using the child picker to see another child's record
